High-Level Forum on “Global Digital Publishing Education and the Publishing Industry" Held

 

 

 

 

High-Level Forum on “Global Digital Publishing Education and the publishing industry" was held in School of Journalism at Fudan University on June 6. The forum was co-sponsored by the Research Platform for Mass Communication and Media Society, the International Publication Research Center of the School of Journalism and Fudan University Press. The forum kicked off the 80th anniversary celebration of the School, but also built a new horizon for the digital publishing education and industry research.

 

Renowned experts of digital publication such as Prof. Graham Murdoch from Loughborough University of UK, Prof. Ronald Betty and Prof. Jennifer Haller from Pennsylvania State University of US, Prof. Andrew Calabrese from University of Colorado and Prof. Pradip Thomas from University of Queensland, Australia discussed digital publishing industry in the international environment from economic, cultural, legal and IPR point of view.

 

Song Chao, who is Vice-Minister of the Propaganda Department of Shanghai Municipal Party Committee, Director of Shanghai Municipal People's Government Information Office, Dean of Fudan University School of Journalism, Gui Xiaofeng, Chairman of China Editors Society, Jiao Yang, Secretary of Shanghai Press and Publications Bureau, Qin Shaode, Chancellor of Fudan University, delivered speeches at the meeting. There are representatives of more than 50 publishing houses, universities and research institutes from all over the country, attending the meeting.

 

Digital publishing includes the whole process and results of the traditional digital publishing industry and the emerging digital media. At present, China's digital periodicals, Internet magazines, electronic books and mobile phone publishing develop rapidly. In this context, the above-mentioned three institutions jointly organized the seminar to explore the global digital publishing education and personnel training, as well as the international publishing industry and copyright issues such as cultural studies. In this sense, the seminar is highly theoretical and of practical significance.

Symposium onEast Asian Seas in World History” Held

 

 

 

The international symposium onEast Asian Seas in World History” was held at Fudan University from June 18 to 19. Trilateral sponsored by National Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies at Fudan University, the Institute of Oriental Culture at University of Tokyo and The Japanese Ministry of Education study in specific areas, the Symposium brought together nearly 20 scholars from top universities home and abroad.

 

Focus on the communications and interactions in East Sea and its surrounding land in three one-hundred-year periods, the new means of study brought inspirations to the research on Integrated World History.

 

Followed by the speech on Turkestan and East Sea” by Prof. GE Zhaoguang from National Institute for Advanced Humanistic Studies at Fudan University, a keynote speech on “Method and Significance for Studies on East Asian Seas” was given by Prof. HANEDA Masashi from the Institute of Oriental Culture at University of Tokyo. The topics on “the Open Sea”, “the Competing Sea” and “the Coexistent Sea” were heatedly discussed as well.

The 12th International Ibsen Conference Landed in China

 

 

 

The 12th International Ibsen Conference, 5-day long and co-organized by the International Ibsen Committee, Fudan School of Foreign Languages and Literature as well as Fudan Research Center of Nordic Literature, kicked off at Fudan on June 15. It is the first time for the Conference to be held in Asia.

 

Ibsen Across Cultures as the theme, the Conference is to discuss the studies and diffusion of Ibsen’s works in various cultures, and exchange the results of studying and adapting Ibsen’s works under different cultural perspectives. About 70 scholars and theater professionals from Norway, U.S.A, Canada, Britain, France, Sweden, Russia, Australia, Japan, Turkey, India, Bengal, China and other countries attended the Conference.

 

Fudan University has been taking a leading role among the Chinese universities in terms of Ibsen studies and teaching. As early as in 1930s, Ibsen plays were performed on Fudan campus. In 1987, Fudan Department of Foreign Languages and Literature was the first among Chinese higher education institutions to start courses on Ibsen. The introduction of Nordic Literature Course in 2005 by School of Foreign Languages and Literature even focused on Ibsen studies as one of its key research directions. 

 

Considering its achievements and uniqueness in Ibsen studies and teaching, Fudan University was elected as the organizer of the following International Ibsen Conference on the 11th Conference held in Oslo, Norway in 2006.

The 5th Shanghai International Colorectal Forum Held in Zhongshan Hospital

 

 

On June 20th, the 5th Shanghai International Colorectal Forum was held in Zhongshan Hospital affiliated to Fudan University. The forum was organized by Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan Center for Colorectal Cancer and Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery. Vice Director of Shanghai Health Bureau Mr. Li Weiping attended the meeting.

 

The Forum this year is keen on discussing the elderly colorectal cancer treatment, rectal cancer treatment and colon and rectal surgery. Prestigious professor Conor Delaney shared latest ideas on the development of the cancer treatment. Prof. Anton J. Bilchik from California Center for Cancer made a presentation on Surgical Treatment for Liver Metastasis of Colorectal Cancer. Prof. Qin Xinyu and Prof. Wang Jianping, two renowned scientists in China, attended the forum as well.

 

Shanghai International Colorectal Forum was launched in 2005 and was influential in the medical area.

COOPERATION

 

Fudan Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of Its Cooperation with the Largest Global Actuarial Employer

 

 

On June 2, Fudan Academy of Mathematical Sciences and Towers Perrin Consulting Company held the 10th anniversary of their bilateral cooperation. An actuary symposium was held at the same time. Vice President Chen Xiaoman attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.

 

The symposium focused on the application of actuary science in endowment insurance and enterprise risk management. Attendants also held discussions around enterprise supplementary benefits and development tendency of enterprise annuities.

 

Towers Perrin Consulting Company is the largest global employer of actuaries. The actuary industry is still in its beginning period in the mainland of China and there are only 100 employees with international-level qualification. With increasingly more domestic companies to be listed, inspection offices tend to require these enterprises to hire independent actuary consulting institutions to evaluate their welfare benefits, which triggers urgent and large demand of actuaries.

 

Fudan University signed cooperation agreement with Towers Perrin in 1999 and established the first actuary laboratory in the mainland of China. In November 2008, Fudan and Towers Perrin established Fudan-Towers Perrin Actuary Science Foundation to further nurture talents in actuary field and relative projects.

Cisco, Stanford and Fudan Establish Joint Program on Supply Chain Leadership

 

 

 

 

On June 3, Cisco China Ltd. Co., Business School of Stanford University and School of Management of Fudan University officially initiated their joint program on supply chain leadership. Professor Lu Xiongwen, Dean of Fudan School of Management and Mr. Jim Sherriffm, Chairman and CEO of Cisco China, attended the press conference held at Fudan.

 

As the first training program on supply chain, the three sides have combined their comparative advantages to offer courses. Fudan and Stanford have their distinguished research achievements in the field of supply chain and logistics management while Cisco China has very rich practical experiences. The first course will be available to industry leadership and elites in July 2009 and qualified trainees will be awarded with joint certificate conferred by Cisco, Business School of Stanford and Fudan School of Management. The training program will be intensively taught by professors and enterprise experts from three parties and will cover the fields of supply chain strategy, best practice in supply chain, and logistics management in supply chain among the others.

2009 Harvard Summer School at Fudan

 

 

 

2009 Harvard-Fudan Summer School launched on June 22, 2009 on Fudan campus with bilateral efforts. The Summer School focuses on areas of bio-medicine, recruiting students from both Harvard and Fudan. 15 Harvard students and 16 Fudan students are selected to attend the School.

   

The School is to last until August 14. During this period, each of the registered students can attend one or two courses out of the three available ones that are across a range of fields in the life sciences, including molecular and cellular biology, developmental biology, biochemistry and statistics. Professor Alain Viel, Professor Robert Lue and Professor Meng Xiao-li from Harvard, as well as Professor Zhong Yang, Professor Lu Baorong, Professor Mei Yan’ai, Dr. Quan ZhexueDr. Zheng Yufang from Fudan jointly teach these courses. The Harvard students also take beginner-and intermediate Chinese language courses in the first two weeks.

 

The Summer School is a good collaborative attempt between Harvard and Fudan. Both sides show great interests in long-term cooperation, expecting multidisciplinary collaborative opportunities in the future.

Shanghai Stock Exchange Partners with Fudan University

 

 

 

 

On the morning of June 22, the signing ceremony of Memorandum of Cooperation between Fudan University and Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) was held on the trading floor of SSE. The partnership was officially established and the cooperation featured in professional training, collaboration in scientific research and intelligence resources sharing. Prof. Gui Yonghao, Vice President of Fudan University, Zhang Yujun, President of SSE, and Prof. Lu Xiongwen, Dean of Fudan School of Management, attended the signing ceremony.

 

Through the partnership, the two parties desire to realize the exchange of resources and to complement advantages, deepen their social influence in relevant areas and make joint efforts to promote the building of Shanghai into an international financial center, as well as to reform and develop China’s capital market. Under the cooperation framework, SSE will facilitate the visits and social practices of the students from Fudan in SSE while Fudan will support the SSE’s staff training. The two parties will also carry out joint researches on their commonly interested advanced subjects in the fields of securities and finance, engage each other’s experts to conduct teaching and scientific research and jointly launch postdoctoral programs.

 

At the signing ceremony, the two parties inaugurated the “SSE Social Practice Base for Fudan University”.

The 125th Anniversary of Fudan University Affiliating Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital with the Opening Ceremony of Its New Branch

 

 

 

 

On the morning of June 6, The 125th Anniversary of Fudan University Affiliating Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital with the Opening Ceremony of its new branch was held at No.128 Shenyang Road, Yangpu District. About 200 leaders from Ministry of Health, Shanghai Municipal Public Health Bureau, all the other Fudan affiliating hospitals, sister hospitals, related departments as well as experts from all over the world participated in the ceremony. Chancellor of Fudan University, Prof. Qin Shaode and Fudan Executive Vice President Wang Weiping attended the celebration. In addition, Minister of Health Mr. Chen Zhu and Mayor Han Zhen sent letters of congratulations.

 

The new north branch of Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital occupies over 33,000 square meters and its floor space is over 60,000 square meters with 450 beds. While the old hospital located in Huangpu District occupies12,000 square meters, with a building area of about 21,000 square meters and 200 beds.

 

Founded in 1884, The Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital has been referred to as “The Red House Hospital” by the public for a century because the main building on the original site has a red roof. Through joint efforts of Dr. Wang Shuzhen, one of the founders of Chinese obstetrics and gynecology, and other qualified doctors and experts, the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital has became a renowned comprehensive hospital in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. It includes departments of Obstetrics, Gynecology, Shanghai Combination of Chinese Traditional and Western Medical Centre of Menstruation, among the others. Annual number of outpatient and inpatient is 600,000 and 25,000 respectively. To celebrate its 125th anniversary, The Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital also held an International Forum on Obstetrics and Gynecology on June 5. Experts from home and abroad attended the meeting and gave speeches on the key issues and the latest research.

The 3rd Board Meeting of the 4th Fudan Board of Trustees Held

 

 

 

 

 

On the morning of June 13, the third board meeting of Fudan University co-organized by Ningxia Baota Petrochemical Group concluded in Yinchuan, Ningxia Province.

 

Government officials received the trustees of Fudan University. During the meeting, Chancellor of Fudan University, Prof. Qin Shaode made a speech, expressing the appreciation of having so many trustees attending the meeting held in YinChuan, a faraway city from Shanghai. He also expressed great thankfulness to the President of Ningxia Baota Petrochemical Group, Mr. Sun Hangchao, also a board member, due to his hospitalities

 

During the meeting, all trustees of board gave suggestions to the development of Fudan University, and all of them expressed their willingness in enhancing the strength of Fudan. After the meeting, all the participants of the meeting visited Ningxia Baota Petrochemical Group and Yinchuan University.

Fudan School of Management Inaugurates Li Dak Sum Building

Fudan Management School held a grand ceremony to inaugurate the newly refurbished Li Dak Sum Building on June 16.

 

The School was honored to have Dr. Li Dak Sum, member of the Board of Trustees of Fudan University, and his wife Madame Li Yip Yio Chin, and Dr. Chen Tseng Tao, another board member, and his wife Madame Chen Xu Qi Ming, to address the ceremony.

Mr. Li, also honorary professor of the School, offered a donation of 8 million RMB in 2008 for the renovation project which was completed in May.

 

Vice President Zhang YIhua, on behalf of the university, expressed deep gratitude to the couple of Mr. Li Dak Sum and Madame Li Yip Yio Chin, for their generosity and unrivaled spirit of making continuous contribution to Alma Mater and the whole society.

 

In his speech, Mr. Li retrospectively shared his early experience of studying at Fudan University back in the Second World War period, and said that he can see out of the renovated Li Dak Sum Building that the school is on a fast and steady path of development, and that he is full of confidence and expectation about its bright future.

 

School of Management Dean Lu Xiongwen represented the school to extend the most sincere gratitude to Dr. Li, as well as the School’s ambition to develop into one of world’s best business schools. After the ceremony, school leaders accompanied the guests to visit the building.

 

Back to the early 1990s, Dr. Li suggested that Fudan re-establish the Department of Accounting, the proposal which was quickly accepted by the university and approved by the Ministry of Education. More than that, he acted up and had donated 5 million RMB to build up 10-storied Li Dak Sum Building – a complex one with then China’s first-class teaching, research and administrative facilities. It was completed and put into use in April of 1995, with a total floor space of 8,000 square meters. In the next decade or more, the building has witnessed tremendous progress which has been made on the path of school developing toward the goal of turning into a world-class business school.

 

After the renovation project, the building has become a modern multi-functional complex, providing research, teaching and administrative facilities for school faculty, staff and students.

 

Fudan Chancellor Qin Shaode, Emeritus Presidents Wang Shenghong and YANG Fujia, and Executive Vice President Zhang Yihua participated in the inauguration. School Dean Prof. Lu Xiongwen and more than 200 faculty, staff and students attended the ceremony, with Professor Wu Lipeng, the School’s advisor, presiding over the ceremony.

Fudan Undergraduate Succeeds with New Approach to Minimum Manhattan Network Problem

 

 

 

On the 25th Annual Symposium on Computational Geometry (SCG 2009), Fudan Undergraduate Mr. Guo Zeyu and doctorial candidate Mr. Sun He were invited to present their joint research finding on A Fast 2-Approximation Algorithm for the Minimum Manhattan Network Problem. This is the second time that scientists from mainland China were invited for presentation on this highest-level conference on geometry, the last time being 25 years ago. 

From Year 2007, Guo Zeyu and Sun He began to work on Minimum Manhattan Network Problem and on June 2008, Guo Zeyu received Chun-Tsung Scholarship from Fudan, a scholarship dedicated to undergraduates who conduct higher level of research. Under the supervision of Prof. Zhu Hong, the two students completed the research paper which turned out to be the sole winner out of 170 submitted papers to SCG 2009.

 

In 1998, Prof. Tsung-Dao Lee, Chinese-born American physicist and Nobel Prize winner, established the Chun-Tsung Endowment Fund in Beijing in memory of his wife, Hui-Chun Chin, who died 3 years earlier. The Chun-Tsung scholarships are awarded to undergraduates, usually in their 2nd or 3rd year, at five universities in China. Students selected for such scholarships are named “Chun-Tsung Scholars”.

University President’s Word to Graduates Who Go Abroad

 

 

 

On June 19, twenty graduates who would further their post-graduate studies in renowned universities abroad were invited to lunch with President Yang Yuliang. During the relaxing interactive discussion on university education and talents’ development, President Yang frankly exchanged his views on General Education, teaching management system, student exchange programs and student societies.

 

As an institute of higher education to cultivate excellent talents, Fudan University is now conducting an extensive survey on issues of general concern by the students and is striving to provide the students more opportunities to study abroad. President Yang also hoped that Fudan graduates would honor their home country with achievements in future.

Class 2009 Commencement for Undergraduates and Postgraduates Concludes

 

 

 

 

On June 26, Class 2009 Commencement for Undergraduates and Postgraduates was solemnly held in Chai Tai Stadium. Fudan President Yang Yuliang together with other university leaders including Prof. Zhang Yihua, Prof. Chen Limin, Prof. Wang Xiaolin, Prof. Cai Dafeng, Prof. Chen Xiaoman, Prof. Gui Yonghao and Prof. Jin Li attended the ceremony. Representatives from schools and faculties together with about 1,000 family members also participated in the Commencement.

 

In the morning, the Class 2009 Commencement for Undergraduates began with the National Anthem. More than 3,000 undergraduates of Class 2009 completed their undergraduate programs and were conferred bachelor degrees. The Commencement was chaired by Fudan Executive Vice President Prof. Zhang Yihua. Academician Li Daqian addressed Class 2009 undergraduates on behalf of all members of Fudan University.

 

In the afternoon, Commencement for Class 2009 Postgraduates was held. Fudan Executive Vice President Prof. Wang Weiping presided over the ceremony. This year there were altogether 5,324 postgraduates, including 924 Ph.D. and 4400 Masters.

Three Fudan Professors Named “The Most Influential Economists of The People’s Republic of China

 

 

 

Three professors from Fudan School of Economics were listed among the “100 most influential economists of People’s Republic of China”, namely late Professor Jiang Xuemo, Professor Yuan Zhigang and Professor Zhang Jun. Their works will be included into the “Collection of Essays of 100 Most Influential Economists of The People’s Republic of China”, which will be published in September 2009, for the 60th anniversary of the founding of The People’s Republic of China.

 

The selection of the 100 most influential economists was conducted by Economic Research Journal and was finalized on May 17.

Prof. Peng Xizhe Delivers Keynote Speech on IHDP 2009

 

 

 

 

Prof. Peng Xizhe, Dean of Fudan School of Social Development and Public Policy, attended the Opening Session of The 7th International Human Dimensions Program on Global Environmental Change (IHDP) held at Bonn, Germany, and addressed on the relationship between environment and population as keynote speaker at the plenary session subsequent.

 

IHDP was founded by the International Council for Science (ICSU) and the International Social Science Council (ISSC) of UNESCO in 1996, and has been a key program of the United Nations University (UNU) since January 2007. IHDP is also a member of the Earth System Science Partnership (ESSP), the partnership of four international global change research programs.

 

The conference addressed the theme of "Social Challenges of Global Change”, focusing on four major identified major social challenges, demographic challenges, resources and ecosystem services, social cohesion and equity, and adaptive institutions. More than 1,100 international scientists, practitioners and policy makers from various fields attended various components of this landmark meeting, such as plenary sessions, special round tables and parallel scientific sessions.

President of National University of Singapore Visits Fudan

 

 

 

On June 4, a delegation from The National University of Singapore led by President Tan Chorh Chuan visited Fudan University.

 

The delegation first visited the Fudan Industrial Park and Shanghai Fudan Microelectronics, Co., Ltd to learn Fudan’s experience in facilitating the transformation of scientific research findings and encouraging talented young people to start their own business. Following that, the delegation paid a visit to the Laboratory of the Advanced Materials Science located in the Jiangwan Campus, guided by Professor Zhao Dongyuan.

Then the delegation met with President Yang Yuliang and other leaders of Fudan in the Guanghua Towers. Vice President Professor Jing Li, Pro Vice President Professor Chen Yinzhang, Vice Dean of the Graduate School Professor Gu Yunshen, Vice Dean of the School of Management Professor Sun Yiming attended the meeting.

 

On the meeting, President Yang Yuliang said that Shanghai is currently engaged in building Shanghai into international financial and shipping centers, and Singapore has a lot of precious experience in both fields that are inspiring for Shanghai. Hence, it is hoped that NUS and Fudan take this opportunity and joint hands for contributions to the development of the two countries.

Visit by Delegation from Corvinus University in Budapest

 

 

 

A delegation from Corvinus University led by President Prof. Tamaz Meszaros visited Fudan University on June 4th, which was warmly welcome by Vice President Wang Weiping.

 

Corvinus University is a famous public higher education institute in Hungary, founded in 1948 and located in the capital of Hungary, Budapest. The university ranks No.1 in Hungary and always ranked top in the Financial Times ranking.

 

The main purpose of the visit to Fudan University this time is to extend overseas cooperation. Prof. Tamas introduced the strategic plan of Corvinus University, at the same time, expressed his willingness in further cooperation with Fudan. Prof. Wang agreed on Prof. Tamas’s ideas and proposed several possible cooperative areas. He believes that the cooperation between the two universities will provide both students and teachers more opportunities. During the meeting, representative from foreign students’ office briefly introduced Fudan overseas exchange programs.

Talk on Rare Disaster and Capital Market by Prof. Robert J. Barro

 

 

 

Invited by Fudan School of Economics, Mr. RobertJ.Barro, the world famous economist delivered a speech titled Rare Disaster and Capital Market in Dakin Hall of the School on June 4. His speech focused on the relationships between collapse of the stock market and economic crisis. The report is presided over by Professor Shi Lei.

 

Professor Barro's speech based on Lucas’s rate of return model and used data from 42 countries since 1870 to explore the inherent mechanism of the economic crisis, so as to solve the problem that the macro-economic researches on the economic crisis can not be regulated. Prof. Barro's research is the most innovative contribution to the field of macroeconomic theory. He remarked that the collapse of stock market is a powerful omen of indicators of economic crisis. Data analysis shows that if the stock market collapse does not exist, then the occurrence of economic crisis is of very low possibility. The theoretical analysis shows that stock market returns significantly related to the growth of macroeconomics.

Visit by George Soros to Fudan

 

 

 

 

Mr. George Soros visited Fudan on June 7 and delivered a speech on “Understanding the Financial Crisis” at Wu Wenzheng Lecture Hall of Guanghua Towers in the afternoon, where he shared his perspectives on world economy with Fudan teachers and students. Mr. Soros reiterated that he is optimistic about China’s development, and affirmed that China could replace U.S. to serve as the engine of world economy.

 

Mr. Soros was received by Professor Yang Yuliang, President of Fudan. Professor Chen Yinzhang, Pro-vice President for International Affairs, Professor Lu Xiongwen, Dean of School of Management, and Professor Li Weisen, Vice Dean of School of Economics also joined the meeting. Mr. Soros introduced his collaboration with Columbia University, LSE as well as with Hungarian universities in finance. He also expected opportunities to collaborate with Fudan in related areas.

On June 11, a Saudi higher education delegation led by Dr. Khaled bin Mohammed Al-Anqari, Minister of Higher Education of Saudi Arabia, visited Fudan University, accompanied by six university presidents representing the most prestigious universities in Saudi Arabia.

 

Invited by the Chinese Ministry of Higher Education, the Saudi delegation visited China with the aim of enhancing the exchanges and cooperation between the institutions of higher education of the two countries and increasing the mutual understanding of the two peoples.

 

Professor Yang Yuliang, President of Fudan University, welcomed the delegation and introduced the latest developments of Fudan. Also on the meeting, an agreement was signed between Fudan University and Al-Iman Mohammad Bin Saud Islamic University, about building a basic medical science research center at Al-Iman Mohammad Bin Saud Islamic University,

Visit by Chancellor of UCLA

 

 

 

 

Professor Gene Block, Chancellor of UCLA and his delegation visited Fudan University on June 18, 2009. President Yang Yuliang and Emeritus President Wang Shenghong met the delegation respectively. 

 

This was Chancellor Block’s second visit to Fudan. After the two universities became strategic partners, they now intend to expand areas for further collaboration. Dr. Zhu Chouwen, Director of Medical Center Office, Professor Tang Yi, Chair of Chemistry Department, Dr. Yin Zhiwen, Vice Dean of Management School, Dr. Yang Xin, Vice Dean of School of Environment Science, Professor Li Weisen, Vice Dean of School of Economics, Dr. Kuai Benke, Professor of School of Life Science and Professor Zhang Letian from School of Social Development and Public Policy gave introductions on their respective schools and departments, exchanging ideas on further collaboration with their UCLA counterparts. 

 

The delegation also met Professor Zhao Dongyuan, Dean of Institute of New Energies at Jiangwan Campus. During their visit to the Institute, Professor Zhao shares the planning for the Institute development with the delegation.

Visit by President of Boston University

 

 

 

 

Professor Robert Brown, President of Boston University visited Fudan on June 19. President Yang met the delegation on Handan Campus.

 

Professor Chen Yinzhang, Pro-vice President for International Affairs, Doctor Yu Zhenwei, Executive Dean of School of Journalism, Professor Fan Lizhu, Vice Dean of School of Social Development and Public Policy, Dr. Xin Qiang, Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs Office, Dr. Liu Ye, Deputy Director of Fudan Development OfficeDr. Li Dan of School of Economics who is also alumnus of Boston attend the meeting.

 

President Brown introduced Boston University, especially the facts for overseas studies and international cooperation. As one of the strategies for international cooperation, Boston University sets up representative offices and facilities all over the world, including its Shanghai Center located at Fudan School of Journalism. The Center is to facilitate the overseas internship for BU students.

Visit by NTNU Delegation

 

 

On June 23 and 24, a delegation from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) led by its Pro-Rector Astrid Lægreid visited Fudan University. The delegation constituted of leading NTNU researchers in fields including material sciences, energy research, medical imaging, entrepreneurship and innovation. Fruitful talks on future collaborations were held between the delegation and their Fudan counterparts. The delegation also visited the newly established Fudan Institute of New Energies on Fudan’s Jiangwan New Campus.
