Key Structure of AIDS Enzyme Decoded
On the Oriental Sci-Tech Forum, Prof. Tang Yun from Fudan School of Pharmacy revealed that his project group has managed to simulate the structure model of “IN” enzyme by using “Computer Biology”. On this research basis, hopefully a medical inhibitor against “IN” enzyme can be created.
Prof. Tang Yun said, by using the method of molecule simulation in Computer Biology, his research group got the full-length protein of “IN” as well as the structure model that “IN” virus compounds human DNA. On this basis, the scientists are expected to invent new inhibitor against HIV, which will be called HIV Enzyme Integrase Inhibitor.
“IN” is one of the causes that catalyzes AIDS virus to invade into human gene, the effective control of which directly relates to the development of the AIDS disease. It has been known that two kinds of HIV have been found, that is, HIV-1 and HIV-2. HIV-1 which has spread to the whole world is the root that AIDS is epidemic. So most research on HIV focuses on HIV-1 at present. “IN” names HIV-1 Integrase, which integrates the HIV-1 virus before it invades into human beings. To control and inhibit “IN” is the crucial for the cure of AIDS. But to inhibit it, we need to know its complete structure first.
