◆ Internet Access in Dorm
There is an Ethernet socket in each room at Foreign Student Dormitory No.2. The fee is already included in the rent. Wireless connection is not available on campus.
Once you get your internet working, please make sure that you check your email everyday so that you will not miss any important messages.
◆On Campus Wireless Internet Access
Most areas of Handan Campus are covered by Fudan Wireless Internet Access.
To log in, use proper username and password.
Username: Please enter your Fudan student number (not application number starting with letter c). Remember it because it is useful to you during your exchange study at Fudan.
Password: Try last six digits of your passport number which you provided in your application, if there are letters in last six, substitute letters with number 0. If you still cannot log in, try 666666.
◆ Fixed Phone
Each of you will have one fixed line in student dorm. You only have to buy a 201 China Telecom Card to make out-going phone calls. Incoming calls are free of charge. And you may also use the internet card for making phone calls on one of the fixed lines. 201 cards can be purchased at mom and pop stores in the university vicinity. It is a very economical way for domestic calling.
For international calls, tell people in the States to get a long distance plan and IP card to call you---much more economical that way. IP cards maybe used by phoning the US, RMB 30-50 (depending on your haggling skill) gives one 36 minutes.
Tip: Most 201 cards are paid generally 70% percent off or even lower.
◆ Mobile Phone
Mobile phones are highly recommended; you’ll soon learn that they are a must have item. To get your mobile phone working, you need to purchase a SIM card in 24-hour convenient shops with a new mobile number assigned to it. And just as with the internet access at your dorm, for recharge, you buy recharge minute cards or go directly to nearby service branches of China Unicom or China Mobile.
China Mobile(中国移动) Operator is strongly recommended for its cheap price and good service, and the brand M-Zone under it is especially designed for students.
All the brands under China Mobile offer a special service that enables you to call US in a cheap way. It costs 1RMB/month for the service, and 0.4RMB/min for the calling.

◆ Regular Mail
Whether the address is in English or in Chinese, make sure the words “Fudan University” are included. You will receive your mail from the front desk of Foreign Students’ dormitory.
